St Albans Fashion Week comes to town to wow for the forth year running. All fashion conscious women love this time of year when SAFW hosts a week of events on all things style and beauty. There was something for everyone to enjoy. The spectacular catwalk shows are the highlight of the week and what could be better than shopping the catwalk with Super Shopping Saturday?!
The events are well represented by retailers large and small such as John Lewis, French Connection and the smaller lindependent brands such as Rare One and Lucy Peach Slice. Local restaurants hosted events as did many of the sponsors.
As with any event like this, it would not be possible without the huge team of volunteers. They give their time and expertise, in a variety of ways such as marketing, modelling, back stage dressing, running the bars and creating over 1400 goodie bags!
With The Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe event, in conjunction with LK Bennett, and Stella & Dot. A full house enjoyed fizz and nibbles and a demonstation of a carefully curated capsule wardrobe, which was modelled in store to show how you can create 50 outfits from just 15 pieces! The perfect solution to every woman's wardrobe dilemmas.
The idea being, you don't need a large wardrobe full of clothes to create a flexible wardrobe that delivers. Being clever matching texture and colour, gives each item many more uses. In fact one of the tips was to aim to pair each item with 3 different things in your wardrobe, this will create infinitely more outfits and give you instant value for money and choices.
There were plenty of tips on hand for the busy professional, including how to create stunning outfits and accessorise like a pro using the latest from the Stella & Dot collection.
The main theme of the evening was to make your wardrobe a place of joy and excitement. Having items that are just OK, will not fill you with pleasure when getting ready and you choosing your outfit for the day!
Plan your outfits in advance, use a shopping list and stay focused to finish building outfits as opposed to buying individual pieces that never find their pairing, remain lonely and never worn.
Understanding your style, helps invaluably when choosing what to buy. Knowing your style enables you to target the specific retailers that excite you and stock the pieces that enhance and complete your look. There can be no better location to host the catwalk shows than the Cathedral at night. With the champagne flowing, the audience were wowed by the fantastic fashion offerings from local retailers. For me the stand out show was that of The Dressing Room, which featured the boho chic of Rixo and class of Ba&sh and Sam Edelman.
I was impressed as always by the beauty of the scarves by Celia Gould and some fab pieces by Lucy Peach Slice, Rare One and the gorgeous fur scarf by Simply French.
Volunteers, sponsors and members of the church pulled their resources with the SAFW team to create two truly spectacular evenings of catwalk trends, glamour and sophistication.
As well as velvet, fur and luxe rocked the catwalk!
Men are well represented during the week's events and on the catwalk with great shows from David Copperfield, John Lewis and Twisted Fabric amongst many.
I would love to hear your comments on the event
