Facial stobing is a trending make-up technique for highlighting certain high points of the face to give the look of being 'lit from within' - it's easy to master and it's here for Autum/Winter 2015
Now here is a trend band wagon we can climb aboard. It's basically the opposite of contouring; highlighting certain high points of the face to give the look of 'lit from within' and thankfully remarkably easy to master. It all started at Issey Miyake's AW15 show and celebs such as Miranda Kerr and Kendall Kardashian have led the way. So if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us, right?!
1. To start off you need to ensure your skin is plump and moisturised. I love MAC Strobe Cream £24.50. It freshens the skin and contains iridescent particles which make your skin glow.
2. Prime the skin to smooth any bumps, large pores and hold your make up in place. NARS Light
Optimising Primer £26 or Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15 from £20 start the dewey look nicely.
3. Create your smooth canvass. Hide any dark spots or blemishes with a concealer. Winner year after year of Instyle's Beauty Awards is Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage £26.50. It's two shade system allows you to create the perfect colour match without piling on loads of product. Dior's Fix it 2-in-1 Prime and Conceal £23.50 has good reviews. It conceals shadows, fills lines around your eyes and smooths lips prior to applying lipstick.
Whether to use foundation or a tinted moisturiser comes down to personal preference, however for this look I would certainly recommend using one or the other. My current favourite is NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser £29 as the coverage is light and it gives a soft glow.
4. Highlight the areas of your face that naturally catch the light, the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, brow bone, inner eye corner and to make your lips look
fuller, your cupid's bow. There are so many highlighting products to choose from.
My clients know I'm a Charlotte Tilbury fan and one of my fav products is Wonder Glow £38.50. This can be worn alone or mixed with your moisturiser/foundation and creates a
healthy glow. Her products are now available at Fenwicks Brent Cross. Check out her website
www.charlottetilbury.com for fab make up tutorials.
Some of the exciting highlighters available at Space NK include Chantecaille Liquid Anti-Aging Illuminator (cream) £33,
Kevyn Aucoin's The Celestial Powder £35/The Celestial Skin Liquid Lightening £42 and BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured £30,
all amazing, I struggled to choose between them. If you wanted to splash out, By Terry
Brightening cc Lumi Serum £60 is just lush! Perfect the look with illuminating mineral powders from Laura Mercier £26 and Hourglass £38.
Of course one can't forget MAC when it comes to make up and their mineralise skin finish, soft and gentle £29 is up there with the best. Finished off with MAC prep and prime fix spray + ( with a delicious coconut scent).
