This story resonated with me and highlights what has been my philosophy for years, having once experienced a similar situation.
I woke up tired and couldn't be bothered to do my hair or put on any make up. I grabbed my tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt, old trainers and headed for the school gates, hoping to keep myself small and invisible.
A friend approached me, excited to introduce me to someone she felt would be perfect to assist me with a project I was working on. I looked up at this woman, her outfit was well put together, her hair was styled, lips glossy, nails neat.
She looked at ease and confident. She looked as though she could handle my whole project and dot every i and cross every t!
Sheer embarrassment pulsed through my body. I felt inadequate and far from invisible. I made a decision there and then, I would never let that happen to me again. I am better than that.
We have all probably been there to some extent, but these are the moments we have been present in and remember. What about all of the lost opportunities we have missed because we have wanted to keep small and invisible? What might have passed you by?
Dressing up can have a profound effect on the way we live our lives. It's proven to have the ability to boost your mood, confidence and energy levels. Feeling good about your look changes your state to a more positive mindset, which will attract more positive opportunities to you.
By dressing up I mean wearing the clothes you love. Please don't save them for best, because best hardly ever comes around. Wearing the clothes you love feels like a treat in itself, they make you feel special. Start today, feel special, dress as if you are meeting someone, I promise, you will feel great, others will notice and your confidence will rise.
Make every day your best outfit day and just wait for great things to start happening!
